The Vault Liquor Merchants officially opens on Penticton's Main Street

The Vault opens doors

You can now grab a cold beer or bottle of wine from the corner of the 200 block of Main Street in Penticton, as the The Vault Liquor Merchants has opened its doors.

The store is located in the former HSBC bank in Penticton's downtown, and has been renovating the space for months.

Store partners and husband and wife duo Andrew Hall and Megan McKay Hall, along with Leah Garras have opened the store, who ha all previously been running the Martin Street Liquor Merchants Store together.

Megan said the reception from the people that have come in so far has been "really positive," including their downtown neighbours.

"We wanted to allow the community to give us some suggestions as to what they want to see in the store," Megan said.

"There are some things we can get and some things that we can't. But this way people can come in and ask for their favourite tequila, for example, then Andrew will do his best to see if he can source it."

The store will be hosting tastings every Saturday with a different producer, hoping to catch people as they're enjoying the downtown markets and heading to the beach.

Megan said the team plans to do a big grand opening event in June.

"What I'm most excited about, is that everyone's been really anticipating it, and is really, really supportive and positive about the new addition to downtown."

The store is finishing off its final pieces of decor and the vault tasting room itself, they will be sharing with the community details on private tasting once it is completed.
