Penticton Vees season came to an end in a 3-1 defeat against Brooks Bandits Monday night

The Penticton Vees last BCHL game ended in defeat on Monday night, as the team fell to the Brooks Bandits in game 6 of the Interior Conference Finals.

Penticton first swept the best-of-seven playoff series against their first two opponents, winning eight straight games in the 2025 BCHL Playoffs.

They had a tougher time against the Bandits, losing the first game in the Interior Conference Finals and soon being down in the best-of-seven series 3-1 to the Bandits after game four.

Penticton held on and pushed out a win in game five, driving the Bandits to play on home ice again.

In game six, scoring opened in the first period with a goal from Keith McInnis to get the Brooks Bandits up 1-0.

The Vees would tie it up just 13 seconds into the second period, with a goal from Caton Ryan.

Seven minutes into the third period, Jack Good scored from the blue line to put the Bandits back ahead 2-1.

Their win was sealed with an empty net goal near the end of the third by Parker Lalonde to make the final score, 3-1 for the Brook Bandits.

Penticton goalie Ethan Buenaventura made 34 saves on 36 shots, while the Brooks goaltender Zach Zahara stopped 24 of 25 shots to get the win.

The Brooks will face the Chilliwack Chiefs in the Fred Page Cup Final, while the Penticton makes its move to the WHL.

The Penticton Vees are still competing in the Interior Conference Finals, after winning 3-2 over the Brooks Bandits at the SOEC on Friday night.

The Vees were facing elimination in game five, with the Bandits leading the series,

The Bandits opened the scoring on the power play nine minutes into the first period by Parker Lalonde but Penticton rebounded in the second.

Four minutes into the second the Vees tied it up, when Louie Wehmann scored on a pass from Anselmo Rego, who had shot it over Zach Zahara’s glove.

The Vees got their first lead nearing the end of second period with a breakaway goal from Max Heise, who scored on a backhand shot to make it 2-1.

Simon Meier scored early in the third period on a pass from Ben Merrill to make it 3-1.

Brooks cut the Vees lead down to one on their second power play goal when Nathan Free’s shot hit Vees’ defenceman Matthew Biotti in the midsection and bounced over to Mathis Dufour to make it 3-2.

The Bandits gave their last attempt to tie it up with pulling their goalie with just over a minute to go for the six-on-five, but the Vees fended them off.

With that 3-2 win, the Vees and Bandits are headed to game 6 on Monday back the Brooks home ice. Puck drop is at 6 p.m. PDT.

Vees facing elimination

Friday could be the Penticton Vees last game for this season in the BCHL, after their 6-3 loss to the Brooks Bandits on Tuesday night.

The Vees are down in the best-of-seven series 3-1 to the Bandits after game four of the Interior Conference Final.

Penticton fell behind the early in the first, with the Bandits scoring three times in the first 11 minutes of the game. Goals came from Luke Bibby, Cooper Pierson and Parker Lalonde to make it 3-0.

After the Bandits’ third goal the Vees swapped goalies, with Will Ingemann replacing Ethan Buenaventura.

The Brooks' got another jump ahead in the second period, with Nic Peluso scoring halfway through the second period,

A comeback attempt started late in the second for the Vees, with a goal from Oscar Pantzare.

In the third period, the Vees scored twice in their first 12 minutes. First, Luke Posthumus made it 4-2 after he scored on a rebound. Second, Louie Wehmann took a shot from Pantzare past Bandits’ goaltender Zach Zahara to cut the Bandits’ lead to 4-3.

Even with a pulled goalie for the extra skater to try to tie it up, the Vees couldn't pull though. Brooks scored twice into the Vees’ empty net in the final minute and a half.

Penticton is in a must win scenario on Friday night with game five at the SOEC, hoping to force a game six back in Brooks on May 12.

Vees come back in Game 3

The Penticton Vees came back strong on Monday night, getting in their first win of the Interior Conference Final in a 6-0 shutout victory over the Brooks Bandits.

The Bandits continue lead the best-of-seven series 2-1, after game three at the Centennial Regional Arena.

The game began with Matthew Biotti scoring just 23 seconds into the first period by getting the puck in net past Zahara on the stick side.

In the second, Max Heise doubled the Vees’ lead with a rebound on Fisher’s shot from the wall.

Ryden Evers stretched the lead when he scored a power play goal thanks to a cross-ice pass from Simon Meier for the one-timer.

Just 90 seconds later, Tristan Petersen made it 4-0 when he scored on a three-on-two rush and got the puck over the glove of Zahara.

In the third, the Bandits took four-straight penalties to end the game, including a five minute checking from behind major penalty.

The Vees went on to score two power play goals, one from Michael Fisher, who made it 5-0 with 1:35 left. Then, Fisher set up Luke Posthumus as the power play continued and he scored with 52 seconds left to make the final score 6-0.

The Vees are back in Bandits ice for game four on Tuesday night, with puck drop at 6 p.m. PDT

Vees lose first playoff game

The Penticton Vees’ eight-game win streak ended on Friday night, when they lost the Interior Conference opener 2-1 to the Brooks Bandits at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The team stood strong during through the first two rounds of the BCHL Playoffs, as it was their first loss since March 29.

Defenceman Callum Stone scored the Vees’ only goal, in the third.

It was a scoreless first period, with Brooks scoring twice in the second. Parker Lalonde opened the scoring just 41 seconds into the middle period, after his shot beat Ingemann on the stick side from the right wing.

Nathan Brown got the Bandits’ second goal with 2:46 left in the period.

Stone scored on a face-off in the Bandits’ zone in the third, when his shot found its way through traffic and over Zahara to make it 2-1.

Penticton then pulled their goalie with two minutes left in the game but couldn’t tie it up, and their last shot before time expired was blocked in front of the Brooks’ net.

The Vees will look to level the series Saturday night at home in Game Two, with puck drop at 6 p.m.
