The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) will be hosting an open house for Genelle residents to provide feedback on a proposed design for a new scenic area near the Columbia River.
“Last September, we asked Genelle residents to share their ideas for the future of lot 2404. Their feedback helped shape a brand-new park master plan designed by George Harris Collaborative,” said Linda Worley, RDKB director for Electoral Area B. “Now we’re excited to bring the community back together to showcase this vision.”
The event will be held at the Genelle Community Hall on Tuesday, April 29, from 5-8 p.m.
No formal presentation will take place; rather, residents will get the chance to ask representatives questions about the design. Residents are encouraged to drop by to learn about the proposed project's concept plans and how it will be funded.
The RDKB broke down the project's feasibility, along with documenting how they secured external funds for the project to avoid increasing local taxes. The numbers are as follows:
- $950,000 from Columbia Basin Trust
- $354,000 in Area B Directed funding from the Growing Communities Fund
- $295,000 from the Community Building Fund
Anyone who cannot attend the event in person can submit questions about the project to Worley at
[email protected], or by phone (250-231-1300).
They can also reach out to Mark Daines, RDKB manager of facilities and recreation at [email protected], or call 250-368-1333.
