Poor road planning

Re. Off-ramp closed for six weeks (Castanet, March 13)

Almost to the day, it has been 10 years that I have lived in the new part of the Dufferin neighbuorhood (in Kamloops). It has been more than 25 years that I have ownered and operatored a small business that delivered many projects to customers in Aberdeen, Pineview and Dufferin.

I have made hundreds of trips using the highway exit mentioned in the article. I can categorically confirm that dangerous situations with off-ramp traffic backing up onto the highway has never occurred.

What does occur daily though is having to navigate the intersection at Hugh Allan Drive and Pacific Way in a westward direction. The questionable planning by the City of Kamloops, which allows access to a busy car wash a mere few metres from an already busy intersection, has created a serious ongoing problem.

We don’t seem capable of avoiding spending public money for poor planning and spend even more for even more poor solutions?

Pierre Filisetti, Kamloops
