Rossland and Warfield residents can anticipate enhanced pool experiences this summer at the Warfield Centennial Pool, as both municipalities team up to improve access and recreational programs.
“We are excited to partner with Warfield on this agreement and be able to provide this level of service, which strengthens recreational opportunities for our residents and promotes regional collaboration,” said Rossland Mayor Andy Morel.
Both municipalities reached an agreement that would expand swim times and ensure sustainable funding for maintenance and staffing, swim lessons, aquatic fitness classes and special events.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has also assisted with the funding requirements. The agreement is expected to result in a more streamlined experience for pool-goers, with enhanced programming and accessibility improvements.
"This agreement is a significant step in ensuring that families and individuals in our communities continue to enjoy quality aquatic programs,” said Frank Marino, the mayor of Warfield.
Full details, including updated schedules and program offerings, will be accessible on the City of Rossland and the Village of Warfield municipal websites in the coming weeks.
