A Trail man has been awarded a certificate of appreciation for assisting police with an incident last summer.
On June 12, Trail resident Jason Mulder aided the Trail RCMP with the arrest of an offender who was attempting to flee in the downtown area.
Police said Mulder tripped the suspect, and subsequently grabbed ahold of him to detain the man until officers were able to catch up and arrest him. The officers took the man into custody without further incident.
"It is rare that a citizen puts themselves in jeopardy and steps in to help an officer arrest an individual. We appreciate Jason’s quick actions, help and bravery in this dynamic situation," said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich in a news release.
Wicentowich awarded a certificate of appreciation on Feb. 6 to Mulder for his role in helping capture the offender.
"The certificate is well earned and deserved. His family and community are very proud of him."
