Trail to review three-year tourism strategy at next council meeting

Three year tourism rebrand

City of Trail staff will present a three-year tourism strategy to the council at the next meeting.

Angela Miller and Erika Krest are scheduled to present a proposal aimed at attracting year-round visitors to the city, improving the local economy and leveraging funding collaborations.

The three-phase plan includes a comprehensive three-year marketing strategy, with key elements such as developing a marketing plan and grant proposal for Destination BC to position Trail and neighbouring places areas as more desirable tourist attractions.

In 2019, Destination BC announced funding for a destination development strategy for the Kootenay region to enhance tourism while preserving the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The proposal requests $20,000 to assist in creating a regional brand that highlights what the region has to offer.

The proposed budget also outlines a structured multi-phase investment into branding, marketing, content creation and asset acquisitions to enhance Trail and the surrounding cities' promotional efforts.

The projected timeline for the first phase is proposed to run from April 2025 to September 2025, with the projected cost of the three-year plan estimated at $170,000.
