Canadian's view of the U.S.

I am a proud Canadian.

Having travelled extensively through Spain, Portugal, Morocco, England, Western Europe, Asia and recently Eastern Europe /Turkey, I am always happy and grateful to come home to Canada.

If anyone has travelled or lived abroad (and even if not), I hope they know how blessed we are to live in this country with the right to choose where we go to school, worship, work, to express our views without fear, hav a superior health care system (while not perfect) and live our life as we see fit (within the law).

During this turbulent time of (U.S. President Donald) Trump’s regime—and make no mistake it is a regime—all Canadians need to ensure our municipal, provincial and federal governments know we are prepared to protect our country.

For those following the daily Trump executive orders, this is a man unchecked as he dismantles the United States (government). He has put his sights on breaking Canada economically in order to make us his 51st state, changing name of the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America" with Google’s support, taking back the Panama Canal (with force if necessary), Greenland and now Gaza (by whatever means) in order to make it a “riveria.” But for who?

Rich Americans (Elon Musk etc.) bought their way into White House positions and the influence they exert on Trump’s daily whims.

Trump is exacting his revenge on everyone who may directly or indirectly challenge his control (by mass terminations), terminating funding at home and abroad to those who most need it, and stripping away the right to choose between “he,” “she,” or “other.” He has terminated agencies that are designed to protect employee rights, education, health and the environment. The list goes on.

But back to Canada. As a proud Canadian, I will look to buy local goods and services and can only hope we all put enough pressure on our elected officials to work together inter-provincially so we are not dependent on, or beholden to, the “country of Trump.”
