Re. Peter Truch’s letter Opposed to LNG storage (Castanet, Nov. 27)
I have three questions for the letter-writer.
If everyone in B.C. gets a heat pump and an EV:
1. How much more electrical generation and distribution capacity will we need?
2. Given that B.C. already purchases about 20% of its power from its neighbours, where will this extra electricity come from?
3. How much will it cost?
Until those questions are answered with economically and thermodynamically feasible solutions, all the discussion about heat pumps and EVs is just a waste of time.
