Re. Construction noise eased (Castanet, May 14)
I find it rather disingenuous Kelowna city council will take up (the issue of) construction noise but they'll allow excessively loud vehicles and motorcycles roar around our city 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Nobody gets a break from someone who violates the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act and the City of Kelowna's own Good Neighbour by-law that prohibits such noise from vehicles.
Kelowna by-law officers can enter any property at any reasonable time to investigate a violation regarding a noisy vehicle. Fines can be issued on the spot, but over the last seven years there have been virtually no tickets issued under section 7.1 or section 9.5 b (i) of the Good Neighbour by-law, which address excessive noise.
