Multi-vehicle crash scene cleared on Highway 1 east of Cache Creek

DriveBC advises that the accident scene on Highway 1 east of Cache Creek has now been cleared.


UPDATE: 10:58 a.m.

A multi-vehicle incident that closed the Trans-Canada Highway east of Cache Creek has opened a single lane and is alternating traffic.

DriveBC said an assessment is in progress and alternate routes are available via Highway 5, 97 D and 97C.

The incident is located between Back Valley Road and Juniper Beach Provincial Park Access Road for 3.4 km — 14 to 17 kilometres east of Cache Creek.

DriveBC said the next update will be around noon.


ORIGINAL: 6:15 a.m.

A multi-vehicle accident has closed the Trans-Canada Highway east of Cache Creek.

DriveBC reports the incident is west of Juniper Beach between Savona and Cache Creek, between Back Valley Road and Juniper Beach Provincial Park.

The incident was first reported shortly before 4 a.m. and has the highway closed over a 3.4-kilometre stretch.

The nature of the incident and any injuries involved is not known at this time.

Drivers are advised to watch for traffic control.

An alternative route is available via Logan Lake and Highway 97D.
