Minimum wage hike costs

Re. Minimum wage set to jump (Castanet May 29)

I am curious if anyone actually realizes that when a business pays more in wages, they must charge more to the consumer.

So now your food and drink are going up because of wage increases, as well as the 2% liquor tax increase and inflation on food.

The only ones who will be able to afford to go out anymore will be 16-year-olds with disposable income because we are paying them $16.75 per hour.

Has anybody asked how much the government is going to gain from increased tax deductions off pay cheques now that wages are higher?
