Vehicle stolen from Grand Forks recovered in Kelowna

Thief sleeps on the job

An unidentified man was arrested by Kelowna police after he was found asleep inside a stolen vehicle.

Police say a truck was reported stolen from behind a business on Highway 3 in Grand Forks shortly before 9 p.m. last Thursday. The 2005 GMC Sierra was stolen sometime earlier in the day.

On the morning of Jan. 28, RCMP in Kelowna responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Spencer Road in the Ellison area, where they found a man asleep behind the wheel. He was arrested without incident.

The 38-year-old man has no fixed address, however he was known to have been working in the Grand Forks area.

He was released from custody on an order to appear at a later date.
