
Drivers should expect lengthy closures Friday on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The work will close Highway 1 throughout the day, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. No detour is available.
Avalanche Canada says that there are dangerous avalanche conditions through the Rogers Pass. It notes that large areas of Glacier National Park are closed for avalanche control with explosives.
Over the past month, five people have died in snow slides in British Columbia, including two Nelson police officers and a pair of Americans who were heli-skiing near Revelstoke.
