Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon is being closed overnight due to avalanche risk.

DriveBC reports the highway will be closed between American Creek Rd and the Highway 12 junction (Lytton to Hope).

The avalanche risk is at Jackass Mountain, which will be assessed by technicians at first light.

Local traffic will be allowed between Hope and Boothroyd as well as Lytton to Kanaka Bar.
