Hwy 1 west of Revelstoke reopens after earlier avalanche control work

Highway 1 west of Revelstoke has been reopened after an earlier temporary closure due to avalanche control work.

DriveBC said the Trans-Canada Highway between Griffin Lake Avalanche Gate and Clanwilliam OH Bridge has been cleared as of 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Trans-Canada Highway near Revelstoke will be closed in both directions for a couple of hours on Tuesday night for avalanche control work, according to DriveBC.

DriveBC said the temporary highway closure is planned from 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Highway 1 will be closed west of Revelstoke, between Griffin Lake Avalanche Gate and Clanwilliam OH Bridge.

Drivers are advised to watch for traffic control personnel in the area.

A stretch of Highway 1 east of Revelstoke was temporarily closed earlier on Tuesday due to a vehicle incident.
