ORIGINAL: 10:10 a.m.

A major collision has blocked the Trans-Canada Highway in the Shuswap.

Reader submitted dashcam footage shows a pileup that appears to involve at least three semis, about four kilometres east of Canoe.

There may also be a passenger vehicle involved.

"The highway is completely blocked," says Robert Himmelspach.

There is no information on the incident on DriveBC yet.

A heavy snowfall for Highway 1 through the Shuswap to Rogers Pass is in effect for today, with snow easing by late afternoon.

Himmelspach says conditions were sheer ice.

He was on his way from Sicamous to Kamloops at the time.

He couldn't tell if any serious injuries are involved, but did his best to slow down oncoming traffic as he turned around from the scene.

Castanet will have more details as they become available.
