Vernon will seek a $500,000 provincial grant to complete the second phase of a bike skills park on Becker Mountain.
Councillors are expected to support the project, which would be funded through the B.C. Destination Development Fund.
The fund is currently accepting applications.
Phase 1 of the Becker Park bike skills area opened in June 2018.
The second phase will include improvements and additions to the trail network, a paved pump track, bike skills area, and a new dirt jump area.
A report to council says the expansion would "create a modern mountain bike skills park that will provide a safe, fun, and progressive environment for all abilities of riders from beginner to expert."
The work is included as part of the city's Parks Master Plan, and is identified as a 2024 project.
The project team is confident the amenities can be constructed within the grant limit of $500,000.
Grant applications are due Dec. 7.
