Police, fire, sheriff and bylaw officers are teaming up to hold a "Cram the Cruiser" holiday food drive, with donations going to make sure nobody in the community goes hungry this season.

On Saturday, Dec. 10 in front of Cherry Lane Mall, help the public safety officers fill one (or more!) of their vehicles with non-perishable food donations.

In the past, Cram the Cruiser events have been chiefly an RCMP initiative, but this year more public safety agencies are involved.

"We would love to have members of the public come out, say hello to us and drop off a donation," said Travis Mills, Penticton bylaw enforcement officer.

"We are hoping to have a good number of people stop by as the need for the food bank is growing everyday and the demand soars around this time of year."

All donations will go to the Penticton Salvation Army Food Bank to help individuals in need.

Some of the Salvation Army's current most needed items include crackers, soup, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce, toiletries, Kraft Dinner, canned vegetables and canned proteins.

Financial donations will also be welcome.

The drive will run Dec. 10 from 12 to 4 p.m. in the parking lot in front of Cherry Lane.
