Mounties still looking for distinct suspect two weeks after North Shore theft

Suspect had a blue mohawk

Kamloops Mounties are looking for a distinct suspect accused of pulling a knife and bear spray on a store employee during a recent theft.

According to police, officers were called to a store in the 800-block of Fortune Drive at about 4:45 p.m. on Sept. 15 for a report of a theft where the suspect pulled the weapons.

Investigators believe the suspect fled south on Tranquille Road, tossing the knife as he did.

The suspect is described as having a blue mohawk. He was wearing an orange shirt at the time of the theft.

RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said Mounties were busy dealing with “a number of other high-priority events,” so the call was triaged based on a “reduced risk to safety.” She said the call remained in the triage queue for more than an hour because the employee called back to say the thief fled and no one was injured.

Evelyn said an officer was at the store by 6 p.m.

Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
