Intoxicated pedestrian avoids serious injury after collision in downtown crosswalk

A drunk pedestrian was lucky to avoid serious injuries after a late-night collision Sunday in a Victoria Street crosswalk.

Emergency crews were called to the 400-block of Victoria Street just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a pedestrian struck.

According to police, an intoxicated person is believed to have been crouching in the crosswalk when they were struck.

The driver remained at the scene and the injured pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
