Police probe suspicious late-night fire that damaged two vehicles

Truck torched downtown

Police are investigating a suspicious late-night fire last week that damaged two vehicles parked in a downtown lot.

Emergency crews were called to a parking lot at Lansdowne Street and Second Avenue at about 11:15 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a fire.

“Police attended and located a truck with significant fire damage,” RCMP Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

“A vehicle parked next to the truck received minor damage as a result of the flames.”

According to police, witnesses said three people were seen fleeing the area. No descriptions were provided.
