The City of Vernon is continuing to share information about the proposed Active Living Centre with a series of pop-up information booths.

A referendum is taking place in conjunction with the 2022 general local election Oct. 15 to grant the city to borrow the $121 million needed to build the elaborate facility.

Recreation Services staff have been hosting a number of open houses and information booths at local community events so residents can review information, look at conceptual drawings, learn about the impact for taxpayers, ask questions, and receive answers in real time

“As we’ve said, the Active Living Centre is a community-based decision and every voice matters. Your vote is your voice,” said Doug Ross, Director, Recreation Services. “We want to ensure residents have accurate, fact-based information about the project so they can make a well-informed decision for themselves. We hope to see a strong voter turnout on Oct.15.”

Over the next few weeks, information booths will also be available at the following locations:

• Sept. 24, Village Green Shopping Centre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Sept. 25, Village Green Shopping Centre from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Sept. 28, Seaton Secondary School from 5 to 7 p.m.
• Sept. 29, Schubert Centre from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Oct. 1, Vernon Recreation Centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Oct. 1, Vernon Fall Home Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
