The community of Oyama is teaming up with Pedego to fight cancer this weekend.
Pedego’s Tena McKenzie is leading Team Oyama to help raise money for CIBC Run for the Cure taking place Sunday on the Okanagan Rail Trail. Tena has teamed up with the Oyama community to organize the ride starting from Gatzke Farm Market parking lot at 10:30 a.m., September 25.
“Every member of our team is riding for someone we know who has battled or is battling this disease. I'm sure you know someone too,” says Pedego Oyama owner Sheila Fraser. “Join us and spread the word."
McKenzie is a breast cancer survivor who is marking her 11th anniversary of beating the disease.
“I call my bike team: B.O.A - Boobs of Anarchy,” says McKenzie. “We are in black biker t-shirts with pink feather boas and I'm leader of the pack with my breast-cancer-pink Pedego electric bike."
The event is sponsored by Gatzke Orchards, Pedego Oyama, OKF Grill, Woody’s Pub and Alexander's Pub.
"What an amazing community we have! The support of the sponsors, coupled with local friends and neighbours has been overwhelming! Last year we raised over $7000 - this year we hope for even more!"
