The highway has now reopened in both directions.
ORIGINAL 4:15 p.m.
Highway 97 is closed in both directions between Monte Lake and Falkland due to downed power lines.
DriveBC indicates the closure is between Buff Frontage Rd. and Paxton Valley Rd. for 8.6 km, approximately 19 km east of Monte Creek, to 18 km west of Falkland.
The highway is closed to all but emergency vehicles. The next update is expected at 4:45 p.m.
