One person has died as a result of a single-vehicle collision that happened near Barriere, according to RCMP.
Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said in an email to Castanet that the crash was reported to Barriere RCMP just after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
"Sadly, one person was found deceased," Saunderson said.
"I do not have any further information at this time as police work to positively confirm identity, complete next-of-kin notification and gather evidence at the scene."
Highway 5 was closed north of Barriere earlier on Tuesday as crews worked to retrieve the vehicle from the North Thompson River.
According DriveBC, Highway 5 between Carlson Road and McDougall Road has now been cleared.

Highway 5 is closed north of Barriere as crews work to retrieve a vehicle from the North Thompson River.
According to DriveBC, the Yellowhead Highway is closed for vehicle recovery between Carlson Road and McDougall Road in the Little Fort area.
No detour is available and DriveBC said it’s not known when the highway will reopen.
There is no word yet on any injuries. Castanet has reached out to police for more information.
