Jazz flight between Vancouver and Kelowna struck by lightning

Lightning strikes plane

An Air Canada Jazz flight en route from Vancouver to Kelowna was struck by lightning during Thursday’s severe thunderstorms over the B.C. Southern Interior.

Jazz Aviation confirms that flight 8282 experienced a lightning strike shortly before landing. It touched down at Kelowna International Airport at 7:12 p.m. on August 11.

The airline says the plane landed normally and without incident.

A maintenance team was dispatched to inspect the aircraft for any damage, as is standard practice, according to a Jazz spokesperson.
