Hedge goes up in flames, utility lines impacted, on Ziprick Road

Hedge goes up in flames

The Kelowna Fire Department knocked down a hedge fire Friday evening.

The hedge outside a home on Ziprick Road, near the Baron Road intersection, went up in flames shortly after 7 p.m.

Crews doused the flames quickly upon arrival, according to witnesses, but the flames damages overhead cable lines.

Firefighters at the scene said the blaze has been deemed suspicious.

The City of Kelowna has recently been encouraging property owners to remove cedar and juniper hedges due to their flammability.
