Vernon aquatic centre pool repaint becomes a 'priority'

Pool needs a paint job

Vernon's rec centre swimming pool needs a paint job.

A report to city council states the need to paint the aquatics centre lap pool "has surpassed other approved projects in order of priority."

Administration recommends painting the pool "to protect the asset and associated filtration equipment."

The work can be completed successfully during the aquatics centre annual maintenance shutdown Aug. 22 - Sept. 25.

The cost to sandblast and paint the pool is estimated at $130,000.

The report recommends deferring a fire suppression upgrade and leisure pool duct painting until 2023 to cover the lap pool painting, along with up to $60,000 from cost savings realized on other projects.
