South Okanagan RCMP seeking man suspected of involvement with three recent shootings in Penticton, Osoyoos

Shooting suspect at large

Police have named a suspect in an Osoyoos Canada Day shooting, and are warning the public he may be armed and dangerous.

Steven Marlo Gallagher, 29, is at large and accused of involvement in a shooting on a busy beach on the evening of July 1 that left a 22-year-old Maple Ridge man with non-life threatening injuries.

Two groups of partiers got into an altercation, and one man pulled out a gun.

Osoyoos RCMP said multiple rounds were fired, and that there were upwards of 100 people on White Sands beach on the east side of Osoyoos Lake at the time.

They are investigating a possible link between this shooting and a shocking random shooting event in downtown Penticton on June 26, and an incident in which police were shot at on Penticton Indian Band land on June 28.

RCMP is seeking the public’s help in locating Gallagher, who is being considered armed and dangerous.

“If Steven sees or hears this, we ask him to contact the police immediately,” says Sergeant Jason Bayda.

Should you encounter Gallagher, or have information regarding his whereabouts, do not approach him and immediately call 911.

Gallagher is also facing charges related to an arson in Oliver in May, in which a man broke into a pharmacy, lit multiple items on fire and left.
