Flood conditions improve greatly overnight in Spallumcheen

Flooding eases in Spall

\

Flood conditions improved in Spallumcheen overnight.

The Township of Spallumcheen reactivated its Emergency Operations Centre Monday afternoon due to localized flooding as heavy rains hit the North Okanagan.

Flooding was reported on Eagle Rock Road, and reader video shows a torrent of water was pouring over the road.

“Crews have monitored the situation and conditions have improved substantially overnight. Crews will continue to monitor the area,” a statement from the township said Tuesday morning.

A sandbagging station is set up at the public works shop, 1511 Eagle Rock Rd. Bring your own shovel.

A photograph provided by the township Tuesday morning shows no water on the road, a far cry from Monday's conditions.

A Youtube video by chico87531 showed water, mud and debris pouring over the blacktop on Monday.

Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and cloud today and Wednesday, with showers and thunderstorms predicted for Thursday.
