Vernon-based Sleep in Heavenly Peace will be building beds for children in need July 9 at Rona

A place to lay their head

Volunteers are needed to help children get a good night's sleep.

Vernon-based Sleep in Heavenly Peace has a mission to provide beds for children between three and 17 years old who otherwise wouldn't have one.

And they are inviting others to get involved.

Volunteers will be gathering in the Vernon Rona parking lot at 10 a.m. July 9 to help build wooden beds.

Leo Campeau with the group said, “In Canada, approximately two per cent of families – children ages three to 17 – sleep on the floor. They don't have beds of their own.”

SIHO is also looking for volunteers who can assist with delivery of beds to homes, or anyone who is interested in helping to acquire supplies for the beds, including fabric, pillows, bedding, etc.
