Czech defenceman chosen by Rockets in CHL Import Draft

Rockets take Czech D-man

The Kelowna Rockets went to the Czech Republic with their pick Friday in the CHL Import Draft.

The Rockets selected right-shot D-man Marek Rocak, who plays for HC Ocelari Trinec, with the 43rd overall pick.

The 2005-born blue liner stands five-foot-10 and weighs 168 pounds, according to Elite Prospects. He suited up for the Czech Republic’s U17 squad earlier this year.

The Rockets will have an import spot open next season with Pavel Novak stepping away from hockey to undergo cancer treatment.
