Staffing shortages once again force IH to temporarily close Clearwater emergency room

Clearwater ER to close again

The emergency department at the hospital in Clearwater is once again closing its emergency department due to limited staff availability.

According to Interior Health, the emergency department at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will close on Thursday at 6 a.m. and reopen at 7 p.m.

IH said it “regrets this temporary change to normal operations” and urged anyone in the North Thompson in need of emergency care to call 911 or visit Royal Inland Hospital.

This is the 16th time staffing shortages have forced a temporary closure of the Clearwater emergency department since the beginning of April.
