Boil water notice issued for Mabel Lake customers due to high turbidity

Mabel Lk. boil water notice

The Regional District of North Okanagan, in conjunction with Interior Health, has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers supplied by Mabel Lake Water.

The notice is in effect due to spring runoff that is causing high turbidity on the lake.

The RDNO says turbidity levels have exceeded 5.0 NTU. Melting snow has resulted in an increased presence of particles like clay and silt (turbidity).

People whose household supply comes from the lake should boil their water for at least one minute before drinking or using it for brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food, mixing baby formula, or making beverages or ice.

Customers will be notified of any updates at www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices) and the RDNO’s Facebook page. You can also subscribe to receive email updates.
