Investigation into body in Surrey park handed over to IHIT

Surrey RCMP have turned over the investigation into the discovery of a body in Hazelnut Meadows Park to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Police say the deceased man's injuries were consistent with suspected foul play.

Investigators are reaching out to the public for any dashcam video taken between 8 and 9 p.m. in the area of 68th Avenue and 140th Street.

Serious Crime Unit investigators are probing the discovery of a dead man in a Surrey park.

About 8:45 p.m. Thursday, Surrey RCMP responded to the report of a man down at Hazelnut Meadows Park.

The male was found deceased.

Police closed down 140th Street between 70th and 68th avenues overnight as they investigated the scene.

The cause of the man's death has not yet been determined, and foul play has not been ruled out, Sgt. Ivan Lee said in a press release.

The investigation is currently in the early stages of evidence gathering.
