The emergency room at the Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital will be closed overnight due to limited staff availability, according to Interior Health.

Interior Health issued a bulletin Saturday advising that the Clearwater emergency department would be closed from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. Sunday.

The last minute change in hours, IH said, is due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.

“Interior Health regrets this temporary change to normal operations,” the bulletin read.

In the event of an emergency, people in the Clearwater area are bring told to call 911. The closest emergency department is at Royal Inland Hospital.
