Mounties seize ounce of fentanyl after responding to report of shoplifter at North Shore store

Ounce of fentanyl seized

A report of a shoplifter stealing items from a North Kamloops store last weekend turned into a fentanyl bust, Mounties say.

Police were called to a store in the 900-block of Eighth Street just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a customer stealing items.

“During their investigation, police located a bag containing approximately one ounce of fentanyl, along with paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking,” RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can call police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
