Highway 97a closed in both directions due to vehicle incident

The RCMP said the closure of Highway 97A south of Enderby is due to a serious multi-vehicle collision.

Around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, emergency personnel responded to a serious multi-vehicle crash on the highway between Stepney Cross Road and and Canyon Road, the RCMP said.

Highway 97A remains closed for 4.2 kilometres south of Enderby.

Police said the closure is expected to continue for several hours and are urging drivers to avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Drive BC said the next update is expected at 11 p.m.

Highway 97A is closed in both directions near Enderby after a vehicle incident, according to Drive BC.

A vehicle incident between Stepney Cross Rd and Canyon Rd has closed the road for for 4.2 kilometres, 1 to 5 km south of Enderby, Drive BC said.

Drive BC said an assessment is in progress and emergency vehicles are on scene. Drivers should watch for traffic control. Drive BC said the next update is expected at 11 p.m.
