It was a day that changed one Vernon family's life.
Gauge Serhan, 7, seemed a perfectly healthy boy, but then in early January, unexpectedly, he could not walk on his own.
His mom, Ashley, took the child to Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Jan. 6.
On Jan. 18, he was transferred to Vancouver Children's Hospital where he underwent a battery of tests. Ashley and Gauge are still at VCH as doctors have still not been able to determine why the youngster cannot walk unassisted.
A GoFundMe has been launched to provide some financial help for the single mother of two.
“They anticipate to be there for a month or longer as Gauge will be having lots of tests around a possible bone nutrition defect which could be from his colon not absorbing nutrition,” said a post on the GoFundMe page.
The road to recovery for Gauge is anticipated to be a long one.
All donations will go directly to supporting Gauge and his family during this medical crisis.
