Chase secondary will be closed on Tuesday because the school does not have enough healthy staffers to operate — the first so-called “functional closure” of a school in the Kamloops-Thompson school district since classes resumed last week.
Parents and guardians of students at Chase secondary were sent a letter on Monday advising them of the closure.
“Tomorrow, Jan. 18, replacement teachers will plan what is required for subjects and classes,” read the letter, sent by Principal Greg Gartrell.
“As described in the continuity of learning plan, this time is needed to pivot to manage the shortage of staff and to determine whether we can return to face-to-face or online.”
Gartrell said in the letter families will be notified by noon on Tuesday about plans for Wednesday — whether classes will be in-person or online.
