Two boats in Sutherland Bay barely above the waterline

Boats struggle to stay afloat

A pair of boats are struggling to stay afloat on Okanagan Lake near the old Tolko mill site in Sutherland bay.

A houseboat and a smaller sailboat are both listing badly and are partially submerged. Both boats still appear to be moored. The name on the side of the houseboat is 'Free Spirit, while the name on the side of the sailboat appears to be 'Morning Glory.'

Castanet has reached out to the Coast Guard for more information on the boats and their owners.

The Okanagan has been dealing with some wild weather over the past few months. First, it was a series of rainstorms that caused serious damage back in mid-November, followed by snow and more rain last week that caused much of the snow in the area to melt.

More snow and possibly rain are in the forecast for Wednesday night and Thursday.
