Environment Canada issues fog alert for Okanagan

Environment Canada has lifted the fog advisory for the Central Okanagan.

The alert included Penticton and Kelowna Castanet scenic and traffic cameras are now showing that skies are clearing as the sun rises.

ORIGINAL 9:00 a.m.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for parts of the Okanagan.

The alert includes Penticton and Kelowna at this time however a quick look at Vernon's scenic cameras on Castanet shows how thick the fog was at 9 a.m. Friday.

The alert indicates that visibility could drop to near zero in some locations.

"Dense fog has developed due to high moisture availability and light winds."

The alert also calls for thick fog on Highway 97, including
Clinton to 100 Mile House via Begbie Summit. The fog is expected to continue until late this morning.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero making travel hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
