BC Forests Minister Katrine Conroy knocked to ground while walking home from legislature

Cabinet minister assaulted

B.C. Forests Minister Katrine Conroy was walking home from the legislature Tuesday evening when she was “knocked to the ground,” according to the premier’s office.

The assault resulted in “minor injuries” from which the minister is recovering.

It was not made clear whether there was an exchange of words or whether the attacker knew Conroy or that she is the province’s forests minister. It’s not known how far from the legislature Conroy was at the time of the attack.

Victoria Police Const. Cam MacIntyre said a Good Samaritan may have assisted the minister during or afterwards. The incident was reported to police Wednesday and an investigation is in the early stages, said MacIntyre.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Victoria Police Department’s non-emergency line at 250-995-7654, Ext 1.
