Kelowna Rockets select Phoenix teammates in US prospects draft

Draft produces teammates

The Kelowna Rockets dipped into the Phoenix hockey system for a pair of teammates during Wednesday's US prospects draft.

During the two round draft of players from the 20 western U.S. states, the Rockets selected forwards Hayden Hastings (15th) and Jake Solano (30th).

The pair play for the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes 15's.

In eight games this season Hastings, a 5'11", 172 pound winger has four goals and a pair of assists.

Solano, a 5'8", 145 pound centre, has three goals and an assist in eight games.

The US prospects draft is the precursor to Thursday's prospects draft for 15-year-old players in Western Canada as well eligible U.S. players not selected Wednesday.
