T-Birds score lone goal in a shootout to edge the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 Tuesday

Rockets fall in shootout

Goaltenders stole the show Tuesday night in Seattle.

In the end, Seattle Thunderbirds netminder Thomas Milic made one more save than his counterpart in a 2-1 shootout win over the Kelowna Rockets.

Mekai Sanders ended it with the only goal of the three-round shootout.

Sanders beat Talyn Boyko just under the cross bar to the glove side on Seattle's third shot.

Milic got his left pad on Turner McMillen's backhand attempt to extend the game.

Neither goaltender gave up much over the first 35 minutes until the T-Birds got on the board near the end of the second period.

Mark Liwiski tied it 11 minutes into the third banging home a one-timer off a feed from behind the net from Pavel Novak.

Boyko stopped 29 of 30 shots directed his way during regulation time and eight more in overtime.

The Rockets conclude their brief two-game road swing in Everett tonight.
