Serious crash on Highway 5 south of Rayleigh sends five to hospital, BC EHS says

Traffic is moving again on Highway 5 south of Rayleigh following a serious crash Wednesday morning that sent five people to hospital.

According to DriveBC, single lanes are moving in each direction on Highway 5 near CN Road, the site of Wednesday morning’s collision.

The crash sent five people to hospital, including one person in critical condition.

UPDATE: 9:42 a.m.

Five people were taken to hospital, one in critical condition, following a serious multi-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 5 south of Rayleigh.

Emergency crews were called to a stretch of the highway near CN Road at about 8:20 a.m. for a report of a multi-vehicle collision.

BC Emergency Health Services told Castanet Kamloops five patients were transported to hospital — two stable, two in serious condition and one critical.

Highway 5 is closed at CN Road north of the Halston Connector due to a multi-vehicle crash, DriveBC says.

No detour is available at this time, the agency said.

Emergency crews are responding to a report of a serious collision on Highway 5 north of the Halston Connector.

Crews were called to a report of a multi-vehicle crash just before 8:30 a.m.

Kamloops Fire Rescue said on Twitter it is sending two crews to the site.

There is no word yet on how the wreck is impacting traffic.
