Vernon RCMP received more than 170 requests for assistance over the weekend

170-call weekend for cops

It was an action-packed weekend for police in Vernon.

Vernon RCMP received more than 170 requests for assistance from the public between 4 p.m. Friday and midnight Sunday.

The local detachment posted the figure to its Facebook page, outlining just a few of the incidents members responded to.

Those ran the gamut from driving complaints to property offences, weapons offences, "interpersonal violence" and a wide array of other calls for service.

Police also issued a reminder to drive appropriately for winter conditions.

“It seems like winter is here to stay, and we want to remind drivers to use caution, slow down, and be prepared to adjust your driving to changing conditions,” the detachment urged.

"Be safe – and remember, if you need us, we are here 24/7."
