Penticton Vees reschedule honourary night to celebrate the late philanthropist Neil Jamieson

Honouring beloved man

The Penticton Vees Hockey Club has rescheduled its plans to honour a prominent member of the team's ownership group and beloved community philanthropist with a night in remembrance of Neil Jamieson.

On Friday, Dec. 17, the Vees' game against the Vernon Vipers will honour Jamieson and include a ceremony adding him as the 16th member of the Vees Ring of Honour.

There will be a raffle to give away a car, with proceeds going towards the Breakfast Club in Penticton, one of Jamieson's passions.

Jamieson passed away at age 60 in 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. His passion for helping others was clear in his devotion to local charities and the Penticton Vees.

"He was a major influence in the success of our program the past 15+ years,” said Vees head coach Fred Harbinson. “He was a great friend to me and I miss him every day.”

The Vees had initially planned to honour him at a November game against Merritt, but flooding delayed that game.
