The Penticton Fire Department has had a lot to celebrate this month so far.
On Dec. 2, the department recognized years of service ranging from five to 35 years for ten members.
- 35yrs: Dep. Chief Rob Trousdell & Capt. Blaine Dionne
- 30yrs: Capt. Glen Beierle
- 25yrs: Capt. Ken Barbour
- 20yrs: Capt. Chad Taylor & A/Capt. Ryan Bazley
- 10yrs: FF Ben Grantham
- 5yrs: FF Austin Conquergood, Trevor Dermody, Alex Gerk
The department also just celebrated the graduation of five new recruit firefighters, Colton Gillies, Evan Guthrie, Blair Bosscher, Ryan Sutcliffe and Rob Leigh.
"Penticton Council and the support of our community is making Penticton safer with the goal of minimum of eight firefighters on shift 24/7," Larry Watkinson, fire chief, shared.
Local photographer Mike Biden shared some photos taken this month that demonstrate the intensity involved in fire training, both for recruits and for members to keep their skills sharp throughout their careers.
